Dr Murphy graduated from UCD School of Medicine in 2008.
She then completed her intern year at St Vincent’s University Hospital, Dublin.
She subsequently spent time working in Australia in Royal Perth Hospital rotating though various hospital specialities.
On returning to Ireland, she underwent vocational training in General Practice, completing her specialist training in 2014. She worked in several practices in Dun Laoghaire- Rathdown and the wider Dublin area before joining Dr Mary Short at Rockcourt Medical in 2019. She is a Member of the Irish College of General practitioners. She has a Diploma in Women’s Health from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in the UK. She is a tutor in LARC (long acting reversible contraception) insertion, is a certified smear taker and a member of the British Menopause Society. She also holds a Diploma in Medicine for the Elderly for the Royal college of Physicians of Ireland. Dr Murphy is now the Principal GP at Rockcourt Medical and lives locally with her husband and 3 young children.
Nurse Katie Essene Deevy qualified as a General Nurse in 2017 with a Bachelor of General Nursing from University College Dublin. Upon completion of training in the Mater University Hospital and Mater Dei Hospital Malta, she moved to St. James' Hospital where she specialised in emergency nursing with a Foundation Certificate in Emergency Nursing accredited by Trinity College Dublin. She then completed specialist training in CHI Crumlin Hospital gaining a dual qualification as a paediatric nurse with a Higher Diploma in Children's Nursing from University College Dublin. In 2021, she completed a Master of Medical Science in Global Health in 2020 from Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. She will be commencing a Certificate in Nurse Prescribing at RCSI in 2023.
She is actively involved in research and education. She is an occasional skills tutor for UCD School of Medicine and is passionate about clinical education. She is a member of the Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland, General Practice Nurse Association (IGPNEA) and is a registered sampletaker with Cervical Check. She is also the Global Health Lead for the IGPNEA. She has written articles and presented at international conferences such as the Irish Global Health Network Conference 2022. Her interests are in inclusion health, infectious disease and public health. Her interests include music, travelling and acting as an ally for LGBTQIA+ and minority groups such as Traveller and Roma Communities. She lives in Dublin with her partner.
