Katie Essene Deevy
Practice Nurse
Nurse Katie Essene Deevy qualified as a Registered General Nurse (RGN) in 2017 with a Bachelor of General Nursing from University College Dublin (UCD).
Upon completion of training in the Mater University Hospital and Mater Dei Hospital Malta, she moved to St. James' Hospital where she specialised in emergency nursing.
She then completed specialist training in CHI Crumlin Hospital, gaining a dual qualification as a Registered Children’s Nurse (RCN) with a Higher Diploma in Children's Nursing from UCD.
In 2021, she completed a Master of Medical Science in Global Health from Karolinska Institutet, Sweden.
In 2023, she completed a Certificate in Nurse Prescribing at RCSI awarding her creditation as a Registered Nurse Prescriber (RNP). She is currently in the process of applying for accreditation as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP).

She is actively involved in research and education. She is currently completing her doctoral studies at Trinity College Dublin, where she was awarded the School of Nursing and Midwifery PhD Scholarship in 2023.
She is a member of the Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), General Practice Nurse Association (IGPNEA) and is a registered sampletaker with Cervical Check.
She is also the Global Health Lead for the IGPNEA. She has written articles and presented at international conferences such as the Irish Global Health Network Conference 2022 and TheConf 2024.
